Sprinkler System Upgrades in Toronto & the GTA

A sprinkler system upgrade improves an older or builder-installed system instead of replacing it. Common upgrades include adding zones, replacing worn heads with water-efficient nozzles or rotors, correcting pressure, adding a rain sensor or smart controller, and converting garden beds to drip. HigreenWall Irrigation reviews your system and quotes each upgrade before work across Toronto and the GTA.

Which sprinkler upgrades make the biggest difference?

The right upgrade depends on what is wrong with the current system. These are the ones we recommend most often:

  • Adding a zone where one zone is trying to cover too much area or mixes sun and shade
  • Replacing worn spray heads with water-efficient rotating nozzles or rotors
  • Pressure regulation where heads mist and fog instead of spraying
  • A wireless rain sensor so watering stops when it rains
  • A Wi-Fi smart controller for weather-based scheduling and app control
  • Converting planted beds from sprays to drip

How do we fix poor sprinkler coverage?

Dry patches between heads usually come from heads spaced too far apart, mixed nozzle types on one zone, or plants that have grown into the spray. We run each zone, mark the gaps and adjust or add heads so each spray reaches the next head. Matching nozzle types on a zone helps every area receive similar water.

Why upgrade a builder-installed system?

Many new-build systems are installed quickly with a minimum number of zones. Front and back yards, sunny and shaded lawn, and beds may all share zones, so some areas are overwatered while others stay dry. Splitting zones and choosing the right heads for each area fixes the root cause.

Should you repair or upgrade your sprinkler system?

Repair makes sense when one part has failed on a system that otherwise waters well. Upgrade makes sense when the same zones fail repeatedly, coverage has never been even, parts are mixed and worn, or the controller cannot handle the zones you need. We explain both options with prices so you can decide.

Can upgrades be done in stages?

Yes. Many homeowners start with the zone that causes the most trouble, or add a smart controller first, and continue the following season. We note the remaining recommendations so later work fits the same plan.

How much do sprinkler upgrades cost?

Each upgrade is priced from our price list and quoted for your property before work. The examples below are listed prices for common upgrade parts.

Are upgrades covered by the warranty?

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure about something? Call or text and we'll answer it straight.

  • Usually, yes. Adding a zone needs a new valve, wiring and a free station on the controller; if the controller is full, an expansion module or a larger controller may be needed. We check this before quoting.

  • Rotating nozzles such as MP Rotators apply water more slowly and evenly than standard sprays, which reduces runoff. They are a common upgrade for older spray zones.

  • Fine misting usually means pressure is too high at the heads. Pressure-regulating heads or a regulator on the zone bring the spray back to a proper pattern.

  • Repair if one part failed on a system that otherwise works well; upgrade if the same zones keep failing or coverage was never even. We explain both options with prices.
