Sprinkler Winterization & Blowout in Toronto and the GTA

Sprinkler winterization is a compressed-air blowout that pushes the water out of every zone of your irrigation system so it can't freeze and crack pipes, valves, heads or the backflow preventer over the winter. In the GTA it's typically done from mid-October to mid-November, before the first hard freeze. HigreenWall Irrigation charges $80 for up to 6 zones, $160 for up to 10 zones and $200 for up to 16 zones (prices before HST).

Why does a sprinkler system need to be winterized?

Water left in the lines expands when it freezes. That can split poly pipe, crack valve bodies and sprinkler heads, and damage the backflow preventer — repairs you would only discover at spring start-up.

When should you blow out sprinklers in the GTA?

Typically between mid-October and mid-November, before the first hard freeze. Booking early in that window gives you more choice of dates.

How long does a sprinkler blowout take?

The visit itself is short for most homes; the exact time depends on the number of zones and how easy the shut-off and valves are to reach.

What's included in our winterization?

Every visit follows the same checklist:

  • Water supply to the system shut off
  • Compressed-air blowout, zone by zone, until each zone runs clear
  • Backflow preventer and valves checked and drained
  • Controller set to off or rain mode for the season

Can I reserve my spring opening at the same time?

Yes. When you book your closing on our booking page you can pre-reserve your Spring Opening and save: $70 reduced by $10 for systems up to 6 zones, or $140 reduced by $20 for larger systems. There's no payment until the work is done.
